Julianna Herriott joins Tierney Education as Tutoring Program Manager

STATE COLLEGE, PA — Tierney Education, a leading academic coaching and tutoring company serving Penn State students and families, proudly announces Julianna Herriott as Tutoring Program Manager.

“We are so excited to have Julianna join the Tierney Education team,” said James Tierney, Founder and CEO of Tierney Education.

“Not only will she expand our Penn State expertise, but with her background in sciences, writing, and communications, she’s going to bring new life to our tutoring program.”

As a writing tutor-turned peer coordinator at Penn State Learning, Julianna developed asynchronous tutoring materials which she then integrated into the program while also sharing the newly-developed tools with other writing centers throughout the country through networking at various conferences. In addition, Julianna helped manage the daily tutoring practices at Penn State Learning’s Writing Center.

With an academic background in the sciences as a biology minor, Julianna  pursued an integrated B.A./M.A. in English and was in the English program in Schreyer Honors College. She graduated with her Master’s in English in 2025 that included a concentration in Fiction Writing and also went through the Lehman Fellowship.

“I can’t wait to get started,” said Julianna.

“We’re going to hit the ground running and continue the Tierney Education vision of making high-quality coaching and tutoring a cornerstone of the educational experience, where learning is understood as growth, not just grades.”
